“Drawing together the disciplines of mathematics and art using innovative approaches will be empowering” (Adam Boddison)

The project allows Lesley and Adam to work in collaboration exploring some important issues, and through this research to grow and develop, perhaps in ways that have not yet been considered. 

The pressures of the global society are currently such that many mathematicians involved with inter-disciplinary work are focusing on resolving large scale issues such as the spread of bird flu and climate change for example and as such mathematicians tend to be working with departments such as systems biology, fusion and astrophysics and many others but hardly ever art. 

“It would be a refreshing change to see a mathematician working with an artist and this is one of the reasons that I am very excited about the partnership in this project” (Adam Boddison)

Raising the profile of these subjects is an integral part of the project and we are aspiring to enthuse and involve people from as many parts of the community as possible.

“Dissemination of this project will be a primary focus for me, with the longer term goal of inspiring those involved and encouraging others to think about working in such ways.” (Adam Boddison)
