The Capture initiative has really demonstrated the diversity and breadth of the work being produced by dance artists with new media
Jen McLachlan, Dance Officer, Broadcast and New Media, ACE
David Hinton was really inspirational – from his talk on the Saturday, and our mentoring session, plus frequent informal discussions over dinner & at the bar!

Capture West Midlands

The programme was named after, and modelled on, the national tour of dance/film work, Capture 3, toured by the Arts Council after its exhibition at the ICA in London in 2004.
A+M directed and managed a programme of artists’ development and training for regional dancers/choreographers and moving image producers, to enable them to gain new skills appropriate for making collaborative dance and moving image work.
The regional work begun through the A+M training programme was then developed by ACWM into four new, collaborative works exhibited by regional visual art venues – Walsall Art Gallery, Worcester City Art Gallery, the Pump Rooms Gallery at Leamington Spa, the Old Market Hall Media Arts Centre, Shrewsbury. The training programme consisted of a two-day Retreat, support and mentoring for the artists’ project development of commissioned work, a 3-day Lab for the 12 artists working on successful commissions, and some final mentoring for Lab participants.
