David Bennett

David graduated in 2006 from Coventry University in contemporary dance and continues to work as an independent arts professional in the West Midlands.
Currently, he is part of the team from Coventry School of Art and Design’s applied research centre working on the country’s first dance digital archive.

As a performer, David has appeared with the award-winning Highly Sprung Performance Company, as well as working on a number of development projects with other independent artists. In July 2008, he presented …when your skin smells of jasmine, a work-in-progress based on Lorca’s Yerma, for the choreographic platform New Vibes at The Patrick Centre, Birmingham Hippodrome. He is a founder member of improvisation collective The Wednesday Group.

David has worked alongside teachers in a number of schools in Coventry and Solihull as part of the Creative Partnerships initiative. Here, research has been undertaken looking at creative approaches to delivering the curriculum as well as enabling pupils to become more independent learners.

Prior to embarking on a career in the performing arts, David worked for over twenty years for a number of Midlands-based manufacturing companies in planning and business analyst roles.
