Fancy a week of clowning around?

In mid April 2010 The Peta Lily Company are running a “CLOWN & DARK CLOWN” session for all of those interested in improving their performing and humour skills, be it on the lighter or darker side.

This exciting week-long workshop will be led by director, performer and devisor, Peta Lily. She believes clown work is a valuable support for any performer, helping you to be in the moment, keep performances fresh, be truthful onstage and bring great insight into how to engage and transport an audience. Her approach to clowning will open your awareness and flexibility as a performer and give you added confidence in improvising from scratch. Find your own ‘unique stupidity’ by experiencing the "Genius of the Clown". Learn the liberating rules of play whilst sharpening your movement skills with extra techniques. Discover how to trigger and sustain laughter and have fun with the magic Rule of Three! And Dark Clown? A chance to play with a darker kind of humour….an experiment with the edges of laughter…a way to create clown characters and performing ensembles with more edge and relevance…..a way to update the sweet and poetic image of the clown…..a way to make a more exciting and demanding rapport with audiences…. make ‘em laugh…and make ‘em ask: ‘how can I be laughing at this?!’

The workshop will run from 10am til 5pm, Monday 12th to 16th April 2010 at the centrally located City College, Coventry CV1 5DG. The cost is £219 BUT discounted early bird tickets can be purchased for £179 if you book before 31st January 2010. Although accommmodation is not included in the price a list of affordable B & B’s is available.
