The Mighty Creatives, East Midlands require a sports journalist/broadcaster/writer for Whitehall Primary School, Leicester

Located in the suburbs of Leicester city, Whitehall Primary School is a large and popular multicultural school that provides a happy, caring and stimulating environment for pupils, staff and the wider community. Children are motivated to work hard and reach their full potential through a challenging, vibrant curriculum with the view to becoming active and caring citizens of the global village. As part of the Creative Partnerships Enquiry School programme, Whitehall Primary School is now looking for potential partners who could offer a fresh and engaging approach to help us develop and explore our creative teaching and learning techniques and work with us to find creative solutions to our challenges.

The target group for our planned project is approximately twelve, articulate, well motivated, Year 6 children who are proficient in literacy. We would like to offer them an added opportunity to develop their spoken, language and written skills in order to maximise their full potential. Our vision is to inspire their creativity and independent thinking skills, within the context of sports journalism. To help us to create this opportunity we are seeking a practitioner to work alongside the staff and the children to plan, devise and deliver our project. We would like to hear from a practitioner who could help us develop our vision through approaches such as, football commentary, radio broadcast and journalistic report writing. Beginning with school based activities such as working with computer based games like Championship League and our own sports events, we envisage our project to include visits to local or possibly National matches on which our pupils can report.
