Could you be a Mentor?

The Institute for Creative Enterprise (ICE) nurtures and develops graduates and arts based businesses into creative enterprises by providing them with the support structure to enable them to flourish in their chosen field. ICE also aims to create new partnerships which lead to new ways of working.  ICE is looking to recruit a pool of established practitioners interested in working with them as mentors for creative graduates, business start-ups and creative businesses.

Mentoring in the arts, whether formal or informal, is widely recognised as a useful tool for professional development, for both the mentor and the mentee. Mentoring is about helping mentees work through issues to do with their creative business and future objectives, with the mentor drawing on their own knowledge, skills and experience to act as a sounding board. Mentors offer  support, learning and personal development which  is driven by the Mentees’ needs.

Benefits for Mentors include:

•    An opportunity to gain different perspectives on building relationships
•    Improved listening and communication skills
•    Satisfaction from helping someone develop skills for life and work
•    Shared sense of pride and achievement as Mentee develops and achieves objectives
•    Using their own experiences and expertise to help artists avoid pitfalls.

If you want to find out more about this opportunity please complete the attached form and return it to:Jeanne@arts-media.org   If you have any questions please contact Jeanne on 024 7615 8316.
