Birmingham puts jazz on the Mapp

Artistic Director and bass player Chris Mapp and trumpeter/bass player Percy Pursglove successfully bid for lottery funding from Arts Council England, West Midlands, enabling them to put together "Harmonic", an artist led jazz festival taking place on 11th - 13th March 2010. The focus of the festival is on Birmingham/Midlands-based musicians and the creation of new music and ensembles. Dancescape Youth Dance Network Meeting plus a free ticket to Boys Dancing ‘Evolutionary Moves’

Dancescape will be hosting a Youth Dance Network meeting at Warwick Arts Centre for teachers, artists and youth dance leaders in Coventry, Solihull and Warwickshire prior to the Boys Dancing performance ‘Evolutionary Moves’. The Network meeting will take place on Wednesday 17th March from 5.30 to 7pm and will have a focus on developing boys dance activity, as well as the usual opportunity to catch up on current youth dance opportunities and news. Following an overwhelmingly successful sell out show at our 2009 Festival, Warwick Words is delighted to announce this extra special event giving audiences another chance to witness Robert Lister’s superbly moving performance as David in ‘The Kindness of Strangers’ by Vanessa Oakes.

Award winning photographer presents first UK solo show

People’s Park and Farewell in Labrador is the first UK solo exhibition by photographer Kurt Tong and features photographs specially selected from two bodies of work. Kurt has gained important recognition since achieving his masters degree in documentary photography in 2006. In 2008 he was one of the Jerwood Photography prize winners, and this year he has been selected for a group exhibition at the prestigious festival, Foto Fest in Houston, Texas.
