Course Details
An increasing number of local authorities and property developers working on business and residential sites are offering public art commissions both permanent and temporary across a range of artforms.
This highly practical course will help local authority officers across many departments to understand the issues around all aspects of the delivery of public art.
Who is it for?
This course is exclusively for officers in Coventry, Warwickshire, Rugby, Warwick, Stratford, North Warwickshire, Nuneaton & Bedworth and Solihull local authorities. It is for any officer who may be involved in the commissioning, maintenance and/or use of public art e.g. in planning, regeneration, community, leisure, parks and other departments.
Outline
You will learn:
- The ability to draw up an Artists Brief for a public art commission
- Knowing how to appoint the right artist/s for a public art commission
- How to monitor and support the development of the art work
- What issues will arise through delivery and installation of the work once it has been selected
- Understanding issues of maintenance after installation
- Understanding the health and safety that have arise from the commission
- How to undertake evaluation of the Commission throughout the process of development.
