Course Details
An entry level and user-friendly introduction to the concept of ‘selling yourself and your work’. This course will start with an overview of marketing and selling truths and move on to how an artist/arts worker can apply them when developing their own personal presentation skills.
Who is it for?
This course is designed for sole trader artists and arts workers/arts officers who wish to feel more confident and communicate more effectively when pitching themselves, their work and their ideas, both verbally and in written form, in various media.
Outline
The course will deliver practical skills training for artists/arts workers to help them develop the tools to feel equipped and confident in presenting themselves and their work projects to potential funders/exhibitors/programmers/commissioners etc.
It will include an element of a marketing overview at the outset – an understanding of how markets and individuals work and some sort of ‘brand’ recognition - but will focus more on the actual ‘how’. It will look at communication skills, both verbal, visual and also in the written form, body language and tone of voice etc., culminating in participants delivering their own ‘elevator pitches’ to each other.
At the end of the day participants will have a range of tools and techniques to give them greater confidence in talking and writing about themselves, their work and their business.
