Course Details

This half day workshop will teach you the basics of what makes a well designed website. Your course leader will speak in everyday language, and use anecdotes from their own experience. Visual examples – such as live websites – will feature extensively.

Who is it for?

This course is designed for sole trader artists, arts workers and organisations who want to either improve an existing website, or design a new site.

Do your customers or prospects find what they are looking for on your website? Or are they frustrated, confused or bored by your presence? Whether your website is state of the art or in a state of decay, this practical workshop will send you back to the office with dozens of ideas that you can implement straight away to improve your website.

The session will cover:

  • Graphic design and page structure: What makes a good looking website that sells?
  • Getting the right content: What your visitors will respond to
  • Site structure, navigation design & usability: Organise your site and make it easy to use
  • Content management & databases: Take control of your website
  • Accessibility for users with disabilities: Complying with the Disability Discrimination Act
  • Search engine requirements: Make sure your site is search engine friendly
  • Using multimedia: How to use audio and video on your site
