Introduction to Fundraising
06 December 2007
CLOSED
Course Details
A day’s course that gives you advice on where to look for support, what makes your work attractive to funders, how to identify funding opportunities, budgeting and tips for writing successful proposals.
Who is it for?
The course is aimed at people working in the arts and new to fundraising, particularly independent artists and small arts organisations.
Often a daunting task, raising money can be less of a lottery if a coherent strategy and methodology are used from the outset. Through presentations and discussion we will look at some of the funding avenues available and then focus in more detail on strategies for accessing public funding.
After the course, you will have:
- An understanding of the personal skills required to engage with the community
- An overview of different models of community engagement
- An understanding of how to explore and define agendas
Outline
This one day session will focus on things to consider before deciding on which communities you would like to work with, including how to make your approach; understanding and appreciating what’s important to the community: building rapport and developing good listening skills and working effectively with other organisations. The session will also consider different models of engaging with the community to clarify expectations, acknowledge diversity but avoid a one size fits all approach.
