Digital and Innovative Technologies in the Arts
16 March 2010 9:30am - 4:30pm
Course Details
This course is part of the new DART training programme , which is only for artists and arts workers in Greater Manchester.
There’s a whole new generation of digital and communication technologies, developing and becoming more ubiquitous every week: satellite mapping, 3G mobile phones, social networking, creative software, augmented reality, virtual worlds, pervasive games, shared web applications and others. But how do they work and are they really useful? This day will look at the range of new digital technologies and practices, and suggest what benefits they might bring to those working in the arts.
Who is it for?
This course is designed both for non-digital artists and for curators and arts development workers who would like to know how they could incorporate and exploit digital and innovative technologies in their work.
Outline
In a supportive and participatory environment, with presentations, case studies and discussion, you will explore:
• The range of digital and innovative technologies available
• How these technologies might be used to create and share art
• How these technologies to curate audiences
• How these technologies might be used to engage audiences
