Course Details
This one-day course is aimed at individuals, companies and venues who want to go beyond day-to-day tactics and really get to grips with the important marketing issues facing their organisation.
Who is it for?
The course is for sole trader artists who want to understand marketing and how to promote their work. And it is for arts organisation workers with responsibility for marketing but no formal training, who want to learn the basics of marketing and start making a marketing plan.
Outline
This course will get you to think about who your customers are now and who they could be in the future. You'll look at what makes you or your product special and how you can communicate this to existing and potential customers. The course will outline different approaches to thinking about your market; what 'segmentation', 'targeting' and the 'marketing mix' are and how to use them; how to plan your marketing campaign - whether you run a venue or are selling a particular product; and it will show you how marketing theories and tools can be applied in practice. It will also offer hints and tips on how to get the most out of your marketing which you can start to put to use immediately.
At the end of the day, you will know:
- How to identify what makes your product or service distinctive
- How to identify and understand your audience or customer
- How to 'segment' your customers
- How to plan and implement a marketing campaign using the 'marketing mix'
- What the key elements of a marketing strategy are
- How to start creating a strategy/plan for your product or service
