Simon Morris
Since leaving his own education Simon Morris has worked to facilitate skills development in other people, both as a tutor in design and also extensively as a community arts practitioner. For the past eight years Simon has been project manager in the long established community arts company Arts Exchange, as well as becoming a director of its umbrella organisation, Coventry Artspace Ltd.
Simon has a broad portfolio of experience in both employment and as a practising artist. After completing his Foundation in Art & Design, he worked for two years as the production manager of a monthly publication based at the Coventry Evening Telegraph in order to gain professional technical experience in design. Leaving this position to work freelance, he also returned to education part-time, undertaking a degree in Communication, Culture and Media as the basis to develop the theoretical content of the personally motivated visual arts work he has continued to produce.
In his educational work, Simon has developed and tutored courses for Coventry University, University of Central England, North Warwickshire College, and has now been working with Arts and Media Training for over four years. Throughout all these periods of time he has worked on innumerable design and visual art commissions, collaborated on video projects, co-created some one-off magazines, provided consultancy to other organisations, and continued to produce and exhibit his own personally motivated artwork.
